(1). After I had had lunch at a village inn, I looked for my bag.

我在一个乡村小客店里吃完午饭，就找我的皮包。

(2). I had left it on a chair beside the door and now it wasn’t there!

我刚才把它放在门旁的一张椅子上，可现在找不着了!

(3). As I was looking for it, the inn-keeper came in.

我正在寻找时，店主人走了进来。

(4). ’Did you have a good meal?’ he asked.

“您吃得好吗?”他问。

(5). ’Yes, thank you,’ I answered, ’but I can’t pay the bill. I haven’t got my bag.’

“很好，谢谢，可我没法付账，我的皮包丢了”我回答说.

(6). The innkeeper smiled and immediately went out.

店主人笑了,马上走了出去

(7). In a few minutes he returned with my bag and gave it back to me.

几分钟后,他把我的皮包拿来还给我.“对不起!”

(8). ’I’m very sorry,’ he said ’ My dog had taken it into the garden. He often does this.’

他说，“我的狗把您的皮包叼走放在花园里啦，它总是干这种事。”
